Below 90% Attendance Letters
At Horton Mill, we place a high value on regular attendance and punctuality, as they are crucial for your child's academic success and overall development. In line with our commitment to these principles, we are implementing the updated attendance reporting guidelines mandated by the Department for Education (DfE). These guidelines, which aim to ensure consistent attendance and address unauthorised absences more stringently across the country, will take effect on 19th August 2024.
In order for school to fulfil its statutory duties, we are required to inform parents when their child's attendance has moved to below 90%, this means that they will be classed as a 'persistent absentee'. Should your child's attendance fall below 90%, you will receive an attendance notice informing you that your child's attendance will be closely monitored for the next 10 days. Should your child's attendance continue to be a concern, it may become necessary to arrange an Attendance Panel Meeting.
In order to set high expectations for good attendance, these letters will also extend to our children in Nursery - we want them to start their educational journey coming to Nursery every day!
Should you wish to discuss your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Cook.
